Full commission for the renovation of the public restrooms at the Outa parking lot, located in the center of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.
As a public facility subject to high foot traffic, the site had become obsolete and required a comprehensive redesign of its interior layout.
The existing structure, poor and uninspired, no longer met the requirements for comfort, clarity, and ease of use for both users and the technical teams responsible for its maintenance. The client’s objective was therefore to provide a more comfortable, spacious, and functional space.
The project is part of a commitment to strong local roots. The color choices are inspired by the identity of the town and the mountains, particularly the characteristic burgundy red of Éditions Guérin, evoking the golden age of mountaineering.
A more spectacular dimension was added through the installation of a central washbasin in Mont Blanc granite, carved from a solid block by a local stonemason. This choice addresses significant technical constraints, particularly regarding anti-vandalism and durability.
This solution also proved to be economically relevant, as the custom-made piece was less expensive than a specific basin for public-access buildings. Finally, it fulfills the municipality’s desire to promote local artisans and their expertise.
